Halloween is the holiday we all love and observe on October 31, but do you remember its history? Halloween, as we know it today, has deep roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This celebration, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, was a time historically associated with death and the supernatural. The Celts celebrated Samhain with bonfires and masquerades to protect themselves from wandering spirits. Later, as Christianity spread into Celtic lands, the church co-opted the ancient festival to fit Christian orthodoxy.
November 1st was designated as All Saints’ Day, a day to honor saints and martyrs, also known as All Hallows. The evening before, once known as Samhain, was thus renamed All Hallows’ Eve and, eventually, Halloween. Evolving from somber ceremonies to a more lighthearted celebration of the supernatural, Halloween has now become the community-centered, festive holiday that we enjoy today. It is the perfect occasion for your entire family to go trick-or-treating, carving jack-o’-lanterns, and attending costume parties!

Plus, our beloved Biscuit will be roaming around to greet everyone – ghouls, goblins, and humans alike!
Creative contests
Halloween has always been a time for creativity, from ancient costume traditions to modern-day festivities. Originally, this practice involved the less fortunate going door-to-door on All Souls’ Day to receive food in return for prayers for the dead, known as “souling.” Today, we share in the Halloween celebration by providing treats to prevent pranks. So, grab your costume and join in. Whether you’re a little goblin or a grand wizard, expect a bounty of treats and warm welcomes!
